Train

Orpington Station is approximately 25 minutes brisk walk away. Much of the journey is steeply uphill. There are four buses from the station which stop very near to the surgery. There is also a taxi rank at the station.

  • Turn right onto Crofton Road
  • After 1.5 miles turn left onto Starts Hill Road
  • Summercroft is 175 yards on the right

Dial-A-Ride

Dial-A-Ride is a minibus service for moderately or severely disabled people who are unable to use other forms of public transport. It is ideal for traveling to the surgery. Journeys must be booked in advance.

Taxicard

This service is reserved for the most severely disabled people who are unable to use any of the forms of public transport listed above.

For a flat fee of £1.50, London Cabs can be used to make journeys which usually cost between £10.30 and £12.80 depending on the time of day.

Directions by Road

Warning: Most satnav systems give directions with a journey end which is too far towards the middle of Starts Hill Road. The surgery is near the junction of Starts Hill Close on one side, the ambulance entrance to the hospital on the other side and opposite Tugmutton Common.

From the A21 Southbound

Turn left onto Crofton Road using the left-hand filter lane at the “Fantail” junction (this is just before the entrance to Princess Royal University Hospital). Travelling along Crofton Road for about 300 yards, go past the parade of shops. Just after you pass the Black Horse Public House, turn right onto Starts Hill Road. Summercroft Surgery is approximately a hundred metres along on the right hand side.

From Croydon Road (A232)

Follow Croydon Road eastbound until you reach its end. You will arrive at the junction with the A21 (“Fantail junction”). Take the middle lane across the junction and then sharply position yourself in the left-hand filter lane. Turn left onto Crofton Road. Travelling along Crofton Road for about 300 yards, go past the parade of shops. Just after you pass the Black Horse Public House, turn right onto Starts Hill Road. Summercroft Surgery is approximately a hundred metres along on the right hand side.

From the A21 Northbound

At Locksbottom drive past the Princess Royal University Hospital and position yourself in the right-hand filter lane at the nearby traffic lights. Turn right onto Crofton Road. . Travelling along Crofton Road for about 300 yards, go past the parade of shops. Just after you pass the Black Horse Public House, turn right onto Starts Hill Road. Summercroft Surgery is approximately a hundred metres along on the right hand side.

From Orpington

Travel down Crofton Road. When you get near to Starts Hill Road you will see a park on your left-hand side. Turn left onto Starts Hill Road. Summercroft Surgery is approximately a hundred metres along on the right hand side.

Parking

There are a limited number of parking spaces at the surgery. The car park does become very congested during surgery times. Most patients live locally and we encourage them to walk to the surgery if possible. Patients who require repeat prescriptions should request them online or via their pharmacist.

Users of the car park do so at their own risk. The practice will not accept responsibility for any damage, accidents or losses.
