GP Forward View Summercroft Surgery
Increasing demands on general practice over the past five years – not just a heavier workload but the increasing complexity and intensity of work – have led to a feeling of crisis. The NHS is finding it difficult to recruit and retain sufficient GPs who want to do full-time, patient-facing work.
General practice is at the heart of the care provided by the NHS. The need to invest in general practice has never felt more important for the long term sustainability of the NHS. We have recognised the pressures faced and improvements are already underway thanks to the GP Forward View.
This animation explains the changes and additional support that are being rolled out as part of the GP Forward View.

Summercroft Surgery – Practice Development Plan
The following practice development plan has been agreed in response to anticipated changes and shortages across the year, including maternity vacancies and GP retirements.
The plan below details how the practice anticipates in using funds to facilitate a smooth succession and staff retention in times of change; using this opportunity to develop robust systems and efficient services to meet the needs of our patient population without detriment to the GP workload.
It has been drawn from partnership meetings, discussions with other providers, patient feedback and PPG suggestions and clarifies the organisation’s long term aims in accordance with the GP Forward View.
